A transom mount rod holder sometimes referred to as bulkhead rod holders are generally assigned to a fixed location on the boat, some models provide for a quick dismount by means of a connecting bracket affixed to the transom or bulkhead which the rod holder base slides into. In some deep sea applications transom mount rod holders are used for larger species of fish. Fixed position rod holders such as bulkhead are also handy when transporting fishing rods to and from the fishing grounds at high speed. The rods stay in the rod holders and are out of the way during the ride. When you arrive at your favorite fishing spot the rods are ready for the water.
